STN Clinician Conference in 2020,

The inaugural virtual nursing Ostomy Education Event, sponsored by Hollister and Dansac through Liberty Medical, was held in October 2020.

When COVID-19 hit in early 2020 we didn’t fully understand the broader impact it would have to the way we live, love and work for the long term. As the year progressed, we saw many opportunities for nurses professional development disappear. Speaking with many nurses they were looking for ways to ensure they gained their continuing education requirements via relevant and independent content.

Stomal therapy is a specialised field within nursing and one that requires continued professional development and support.

Liberty Medical were proud to create a local scientific, professional conference that delivered a dynamic scientific program – encompassing local and international speakers. The conference-required nurses to pay a nominal registration fee to attend the conference and funds raised were donated back to the AASTN in Australia and the College of Stomal Therapy Nurses, NZNO.

The feedback post attending the conference showed highly satisfied or satisfied delegates across a number of key touch points from registration process to variety and breadth of current topics and presenters.
